Western Tanzania National Parks
The Western circuit not well know by many provides a magificent glimpse of Tanzania’s incredible wildlife and great scenery of the rugged terrain, offshore of lake victoria making it an adventurous and breathing experince for safari circuit and hiking.
Mahale Montains National Park
Mahale is one the reserved parks for Chimpanzee together with Gombe National Parks,It is situated directly on Lake Tanganyika and the only means of reaching there is by boat from Kigoma Town, with the misty and rugged Mahale Mountain range running down its centre. The Mahale Mountains National park is described as quite simply one of the most beautiful parks anywhere in Africa and it is only place where chimpanzee and lions co-exist.
Gombe National Park
This is relatively small (52 sq. km) it is located 20 km North of Kigoma between at the Border of Lake Tanganyika and Congo DRC and it can be reachable by the boat only,This National parks is among of two parks reserved for Chimpanzee,the famous group of chimpanzee exist is Kasakela but also there are kinds of monkey like Olive Baboons,Red tail monkeys and Vervet monkeys.Also this park is the habitants of more than 200 species of birds.
Katavi National Park
Katavi, about 35km southwest of Mpanda, is Tanzania’s third-largest park and one of its most unspoiled wilderness areas. Katavi is a true wilderness, providing intrepid souls who make it there with a thrilling taste of Africa. Katavi National Park lies in Mpanda district in the west of Tanzania. With an area of 4471 km², it is Tanzania’s third largest park. Together with the neighbouring Rukwa, Lukwati and Luafi Game Reserves and numerous forest reserves, this ecosystem of 25 000 km² is the heart of one of the biggest and richest wildlife areas in Tanzania.
Burigi-Chato National Park
The National Park is situated close to the border of lake Victoria ,boarder of Rwanda and is surrounded by the wondrous waters of the kagera River and Lake Burigi
One of the special features about the wild life of this park is that one of the largest antelopes of the world the statuesque Cape eland is found here
Burigi – Chato National Park the typical grasslands of the African Savannah.
Burigi-Chato National Park also involves the other ecosystems of Rwanda Akagera National Park and Uganda’s Kikati game reserve, rangeland are to the north of the Katungo River and the lake Mburo National park.
This National Park is set among the pictorial beauty of the lakes and the riverside which is a delight for the eyes of any tourist.
The National Park has a wide collection of wildlife and some of them are elephant, buffaloes, antelopes, lions, leopards, zebras and giraffes.
Some rare species of birds are also found in the Burigi-Chato, Ibanda-Kyerwa and Rumanyika-Karagwe National Park and some of them are fish eagles, papyrus ganolek, and bizarre shoebill stork.
It also extends to the eastern side towards the Kimisi, Ibanda-Kyerwa and Rumanyika-Karagwe National Park Tanzania. So just book a trip to this amazing national park .
Saanane Islands National Park
Saanane Island , the smallest national park in East Africa has a record of being the first to be located within a City center.
It is located 2 km southwest from Mwanza city centre, which lies in the Gulf of lake Victoria
The park is home to mammals like the Impala, Rock Hyrax, Velvet Monkeys, Zebras, Impalas, Clawless Otters to mention just a few.
Around 44species of birds have been documented in Saanane island and many more occur at different time of the year. The park can therefore offer opportunities for birdwatchers.
Saanane Island National Park is accessed by boat.
